Hey! Here's a Job For You!
Stephen Harper wants you. He is hiring a high level Green adviser to make sure Canada's climate change policy mirrors the policy being developed in the US. The job pays $200,000 for a private consultant to track advise and strategize about all aspects of American GHG and pollution emissions
The applicant is expected to go to the US and mingle with personal and business contacts to put pressure on the US decision makers in such a way that Canada has a voice in the US decision process. In other words you are to do whatever you can to disrupt any policies that would require Canada to take action against Climate Change.
(Dear Barack, I hope you are getting this).

The U.S. Creeps Closer to a Police State
PEJ News-Shamus Cooke, U.S. Editor- When word first arrived that the G-20 would be meeting in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, activists began organizing protest demonstrations. Events like this are what freedom of speech is made for. What better occasion to protest than a meeting of the world’s 20 top leaders — most of them deservedly hated — where they will be imposing policy on billions of people worldwide?
The majority of protesters consisted of labor and community groups; they encountered an army of police…literally.

A Potential G-20 2009 Pittsburgh Statement: No more Tinkering
PEJ News - Joan Russow, (Ph.D.) - Global Compliance Research Project – Last year Gordon Brown, in his press conference, arrogantly equates the G-20 states as being 'the world" when he makes statements such as now "the world has agreed". It appears that soon a statement from the G-20 will be released; It will be presumably nothing more than tinkering with the economic system. If the current global situation is to be changed, there must be more than measures to prop up the current capitalist system. Instead the G-20 could reverse the years of contributing to war and conflict, of violating human rights, of denying social justice, and of devastating the environment, www.PEJ.org

Citizen's Protest at the Legislature on Aug 25
PEJ News - Monday Magazine - People’s party - Premier Gordon Campbell and his entourage may be in for something of a tumultuous welcome when the legislature reconvenes after a long summer break on Tuesday, August 25. Not only are local leaky condo owners calling for a mass show of disgust on that day—and rumblings continue that local unions may make their presence felt too—but Victoria resident Brad Slade is calling on all the regular Joes and Janes of the region who feel their voices are being ignored to show up for a picnic on the legislature lawn from noon to 2 p.m.—preferably wearing a T-shirt bearing their favourite Gordon Campbell photo over the years. (Slade suggests Gordo’s infamous Maui mugshot.) www.mondaymag.com
