The growing mobilization against Harper: Not your ordinary revolution

LANA PAYNE
| JULY 30, 2012 - Scientists. Doctors. Nuclear engineers. Academics. Researchers. Stephen Harper has a big problem. He has ticked them all off. And they are not suffering their grievances or concerns for informed, fact-based public policy and decision-making, the environment, the health of Canada's most vulnerable citizens and the safety of all of us in silence. No. Instead they are protesting, marching, disrupting government news conferences. They are mobilizing.

Why in the world are we even thinking about doing business with China.. We cannot do business with China and retain any humanitarian credibility in the free world.

The world cannot keep adding to the carbon content of the planet.   Yes Canada is not the whole world but we do have control of how much carbon we allow to be extracted from our soil.   Carbon caps at the extraction points are the only practical method of containing the problem.  The further from the points of extraction we try to control emissions, the more difficult the problem is to control.

Premiers in Halifax: Health care not warfare: Precaution, Prevention and Priorities

Joan Russow PhD Global Compliance Research Project

This week , the leaders of Canada’s provinces and territories will be meeting in Halifax to hopefully counter Harper's misplaced spending priorities such as on increased military spending, The Harper government has not only been planing on buying F35s, and working to establish foreign military outposts but also increasingly engaging in military exercises such as the most recent RIMPAC exercise. The premiers should build on the international support for the Mayors for Peace initiative which has challenged military spending.

Robocalls applications will proceed

Sack Goldblatt  Mitchell
Thursday, Jul 19, 2012

Electors in seven ridings across the country have launched legal applications under the Canada Elections Act to challenge the results of the May 2, 2011 federal general election. The applications take aim at the misdirecting “robocalls” that thousands of individuals across Canada received in the days leading up to the election. The applications reveal a common and disturbing pattern of voter suppression that took place across the country during the election.
